The annual most awaited festive season is round the corner and shopping for gifts can be stressful at times, especially when it comes to gifting someone who is impossible to buy for or one who hardly needs anything. Instead of store bought ready made gifts, how about getting hands on with just a few simple ingredients and make your gifts more meaningful this season? This Candy Cane Peppermint Salt Scrub is easy to make, feels invigorating, helps smoothen skin and it can be a lot of fun to create too!
What You Will Need:
- 1/2 Cup Mango butter (you can substitute with any soft butters)
- 1/2 cup Coconut Oil
- 2 cups Fine Sea Salt (you can adjust the sea salt according to your preferred texture)
- 1/4 cup Coarse Sea Salt
- 15 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (you can substitute with any essential or fragrance oil)
- Rouge Mica Powder
- Bottles/Jars
Notes:
- If the mixture seems too watery, you can always add more fine sea salt to adjust the texture accordingly.
- Allow the mixture to sit for at least 15-30mins before transferring to a jar as it might be a little wet to start decorating.
Combine both Mango Butter and Coconut Oil in a double boiler, allow to melt to liquid state then add in your essential oil.
Stir in the Fine Sea Salt into the melted Mango Butter and Coconut Oil mixture, and you will get a slushy like texture as seen in the picture above. Stir really quickly so it will not harden up as it will get a little grueling in the process. After the combination of the oils and salt, split the mixture into 2 bowls as we will get ready for the next step.
Add Mica Powder to one of the separated salt scrub bowl and quickly stir the color in to get the entire mixture blended with color. Once the Mica is evenly mixed, add the coarse salt into the colored salt scrub to achieve a more grainy like texture.
Let both the mixture sit for a while as the ingredients start to work its magic to solidify the mixture just a little and we can start filling our jars with this Peppermint Candy Scrub concoction.
Use a small teaspoon to fill in a layer of pink scrub in the jar first, then use a spread knife or small spatula to spread, and press the scrub firmly and evenly. Follow on with the white scrub and repeat the process until the jar is filled to the brim.
