Homemade Bath Salts

Since thousands of years ago, bath salts have been widely used around the world. It is well-known for its health and cosmetic benefits dating back to ancient Egypt where Cleopatra soaked in the Dead Sea (it has the highest salt concentration in the world) for its mineral-rich waters.

Today, soaking in warm bath after a long day helps to soothe the body and mind. It is inexpensive and has many benefits such as lowering blood pressure, improve circulation, as well as beautifying your skin through cleansing your pores and minimizing fine lines.

Here is a simple recipe that makes refreshing and relaxing homemade bath salts using readily available ingredients:

  1. Epsom Salts (1 cup)
  2. Himalayan Salts Coarse (2 tablespoons)
  3. Himalayan Salts Fine (2 tablespoons)
  4. Lavender Buds (1 tablespoon)
  5. Lavender Essential Oil (15-20 drops)

The use of Epsom salts reduce inflammation while the Himalayan salts detoxify and improve the body hydration. Add in some lavender buds and drops of lavender essential oil to create a luxurious scent which also reduces tension. But of course, these are optional, you are free to add any essential oil blend or dried flowers that you like.
