Do It Yourself Oatmeal Bath Sachets

Ever heard of oatmeal baths? Imagine a soothing bathing experience that makes your skin feel nourished and moisturised. Oatmeal has been used since centuries ago as a form of soothing agent to treat anxiety, insomnia, as well as eczema and skin burns. It is known to have great benefits for both your health and skin, and has been used in hair and skin care products such as shampoos, lotions, creams and many more.

On product labels, they are usually called Avena Sativa or Colloidal Oatmeal. Colloidal Oatmeal is basically a fine powder grounded from kernel of oats which can be easily dissolved in water and it is in fact not much different to your store bought oatmeal. To reap the same benefits of an oatmeal bath, you do not have to spend additional money, all you need is a bag of oats, a muslin/organza bag which resembles a wash net, and a scented soap!

Use a grater and grate some soap. Pour in the oatmeal and fold in both the soap and oatmeal evenly. If you are using unscented soap, you can drop in a few essential oils to your mix. Once ready, fill the muslin bags with the oatmeal mix.

What You Will Need:

  • 200g Oatmeal
  • 100g Scented Soap (if unscented, just add a few drops of essential oils)
  • Organza/Muslin Bags

How To use:

  • Let the sachet run under the water and lather it so it starts to soak and foam. Use the bag to scrub and wash your body.
  • After use, discard all oatmeal and soap, wash the muslin bag and leave it dry. You can reuse the bag to create another oatmeal shower bag on your next round.
