Chocolate Orange Sugar Lip Scrub

It’s the time of the year when we start searching for gifts for our loved ones. If you are looking for a simple gift which you can put everything together right at home and at the eleventh hour, here’s what you can do – create a simple lip scrub with some ingredients that you can find right at your kitchen counter. Lip scrubs can be expensive and small but they are really easy to make. We also tend to overlook in keeping our lips hydrated as compared to other parts of our body.

Lip scrubs are similar to your body scrubs, they help remove dead skin cells and any flaky skin from your lips. They also make your lips smoother and moisturized, and if you are applying any lip balm or lipstick, it glide over your smoothed lips much easily. Do remember, do not over-exfoliate your skin and lips, once a week is good enough to avoid any types of irritation.

In this tutorial, we will be making a really easy lip scrub which you can create in just a few minutes. You can even find some of the ingredients in your kitchen or create your very own version:

Melt Cocoa Butter in a Pyrex jug, stir in the Sweet Almond Oil and flavor oil. Allow it to cool slightly then add in the sugar granules into the mixture, this will prevent your sugar from melting into a syrup. Stir the mixture evenly until all of the sugar are coated with the oil then prepare your containers and start filling them up. This recipe makes around 8 x 15ml lip pots.

What You Will Need:

  • 15g Cocoa Butter
  • 125g Turbinado Sugar
  • 50g Sweet Almond Oil
  • 1ml Flavor Oil (optional)

Notes:

  • You can use any type of butter or oil for your lip scrub.
  • Avoid using sugar that is too fine as it will melt into a syrupy mess.
  • Do take note of the temperature, recommended at 60-70 degree when adding your sugar in to your mixture.
