Do It Yourself Charcoal Shaving Cream

If shaving is part of your bath and body ritual, and you have sensitive skin then this recipe is for you. Some shaving products contain harsh chemicals and artificial scents, and if all that sounds bad enough for you, shaving incorrectly can lead to skin irritation that leaves you with the after-razor burn feeling. With just a few ingredients, you can create your own homemade shaving cream and keep your skin smooth and moisturised. This creamy but less lathery shaving cream helps the razor to glide well which leaves your skin soft and supple.

Shea Butter
An excellent moisturiser which is rich in fatty acids, helps condition and nourishes the skin.
Also promotes healthy skin with rich vitamins A & E.

Activated Charcoal Powder
Helps remove dirt and toxins from skin by pulling out heavy metals while protecting the skin from bacteria.

Organic Liquid Castile Soap
Cleanses gently which is great for those with sensitive skin. It helps to soothe dry skin and prevents oily acne skin.

Goat’s Milk Soap
A gentle cleanser which is rich in nutrients, helps improve dry skin, and supports a healthy skin microbiome.

Melt the Goat’s Milk Soap Base and Shea Butter in a double boiler. Pour in the Liquid Castile Soap into the melted mixture then add in the Charcoal Powder and essential oil. The end product will be a semi solid shaving cream with a creamy and slight lathery feel to it. If you prefer a less solid shaving cream, simply increase the Liquid Castile Soap amount. You can choose to let it cool, or fluff it up by using a mixer.
