Homemade Body Lotion Bar

At some point in time of our lives, we experience dryness in our skin which may be caused by several factors.

Body lotion has become part of our daily essentials, and sophistication has led us to discovering natural alternatives
instead of off-the-shelf products that may contain potentially harmful ingredients.

For a start, we’d like to share a simple and easy to make Homemade Organic Body Lotion Bar recipe.

Making Your Own Body Lotion Bars

Ingredients:

  • 200g Shea Butter
  • 100g Beeswax
  • 100ml Coconut Oil
  • 1 Silicone Mold
  • 1 Essential Oil (optional)
  • Vitamin E (optional)

Step 1: Fill a third of a medium pot with water and bring to boil. Place a smaller bowl inside the pot to create a double boiler.

Step 2: Add the Shea Butter, Beeswax and Coconut Oil into the bowl, stir occasionally until fully melted, then remove from heat.

Step 3: If you’d like to add Essential Oil or Vitamin E, let the mixture cool a little, mix them in, then pour the liquid into the mold. Otherwise, pour the liquid directly into the mold.

*Do note that though Vitamin E oil acts as a natural preservative, it would be wise to use up the lotion bars within 2-3 months to prevent mould growth.

Step 4: Fully cool the lotion bars before unmolding them. To speed up the process, place them in the fridge for about 10-20 minutes.

Homemade lotion bars melt slightly when rubbed against the warmth of our skin. They leave a layer of moisture that softens and protects, and are extremely helpful for dry skin patches.

We hope you enjoy this natural recipe that has become our homemade favorite.
